On September 29, 2026, Xbox engineer Eden Marie said Xbox Disc-to-Digital should now be available to everyone, not just Xbox Insiders. She added that a console restart may be needed for the feature to appear.
What Disc-to-Digital does
Disc-to-Digital lets owners claim a digital entitlement for a participating physical Xbox game, then launch its digital version without keeping the disc in the console. Xbox announced the feature on August 26, describing support for thousands of eligible Xbox One and Xbox Series X discs. It was first introduced as an Xbox Insider test.

Not every Xbox disc qualifies
Xbox Support says not all Xbox One or Xbox Series X discs are eligible, and eligibility can change. A physical copy qualifies only if its game is participating in the program.
If the option does not appear
To start a claim, insert an eligible disc and follow the prompt, or open the game tile’s menu and choose the digital-license option. If the feature does not appear, restarting the console may help.
