Some applications just need a little time to mature, and one of the most striking examples is FaceApp. Its adventure began in January 2017, and we've seen it do things like change the gender of the Marvel actors, but today it's all about aging people. The media has grown tired of warning about security and privacy risks, and as an alternative, the whole world is putting the algorithm to the test using photos of famous people.
Actors and actresses, TV celebrities, singers, YouTubers, politicians... basically every "public" face out there is being analyzed by the FaceApp application. One of the first questions we must ask is "why". Why are we so obsessed with seeing the old faces of famous people? I imagine some psychology professional must have an elaborate answer. Meanwhile, the only thing I can do on this side is share images.
Below is a selection of 25 photographs. Flesh-and-blood actors, fictional characters, doesn't matter much. If FaceApp detects a face or more, it will do its best to process it. We recently talked about its level of accuracy, and I must admit that in some cases it did a very good job. How will it do this time? I suppose we'll know in 20 or 30 years...
