Denis Shiryaev is not a stranger here at NeoTeo. You might remember him for the enhancement of that 1911 film shot in New York or for the restoration of the oldest scene in history. But recently he decided to take a step back from historical videos to focus on famous paintings and apply his knowledge of artificial intelligence to them. What exactly did he do? He transformed their faces into "flesh-and-blood humans" with movements and expressions.
As unbelievable as it may seem, this project started because of a copyright conflict. Denis had published a video about Berlin from 1945, but the alleged legal owners requested a block, and despite the lack of monetization, they refused to let it remain on the platform. That's how Denis redirected his efforts toward classic paintings, and with the help of several neural networks, as well as YouTubers and TikTokers, he managed to transform and animate their faces.
Below you can see the final result on seven very famous paintings, accompanied by a video that you definitely should watch from start to finish. Personally, I'm impressed. All the examples look very good, and the only thing those neural networks can do is keep improving with extended training. I hope Denis decides to continue this series.
