First Official Trailer for "Sonic The Hedgehog"

In the midst of the live action boom, one of the least expected movies of the year arrives. And it's not because of the poor hedgehog, who is actually one of the most important characters in video game history. Since this movie was announced and some images began to leak, suspicion prevailed among the public, and today we can finally see a preview. 'Sonic The Hedgehog' is getting closer, and we don't know whether to be happy or worried.

Finally, Paramount, along with SEGA's collaboration, revealed the first preview of the Japanese hedgehog. This saga began last year with the first leaks where we saw a Sonic in the flesh, and with decisions regarding his appearance that seemed a bit misguided. Now we can see him in all his splendor and say that... he still looks ugly. Anyway, if the plot is overcoming, one can ignore some issues or at least let them pass in favor of a good story.

The plot presents us with a blue hedgehog who lives stealing and taking advantage of his super speed, until the sheriff of Green Hills, played by James Marsden, discovers him. After an electrical overload, the Government decides to call the fearsome Dr. Robotnik, who will be portrayed by the great Jim Carrey. Robotnik will come to destroy any threat and only Sonic can defeat him. The end of the preview shows us a Robotnik more like the one we know, although perhaps we imagined him more disguised by CGI.

We still don't know if it will be a total failure or a pleasant surprise, but what it does generate is that we all talk about it. It's striking to see the SEGA logo so present, when a few months ago, Johnny Gioeli, recognized composer of the video game franchise, said he was unaware of any contribution or connection of the Japanese company with the film. Perhaps SEGA's collaboration is only for character licenses and other legal aspects.

One of the renowned producers on this project is Tim Miller, from whom we have great references like the recent and brilliant "Love, Death + Robots" and "Deadpool". In statements, he explained that he wanted a much more realistic version of Sonic and to move away from the decision to make a 100% animated movie.

The film will be directed by Jeff Fowler, who debuts in feature films. The cast will feature: Ben Schwartz, Jim Carrey, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Neal McDonough, Leanne Lapp and Frank C Turner.

The film is scheduled for release on November 8, 2019 and despite not having good omens, we will have to wait to draw our own conclusions.
