Anything can be a LED lamp if we are bold enough. But the goal is to achieve a comfortable and attractive format that invites us to use it frequently. The retractable LED lamp by "shivamvalecha_090805" from the Instructables portal points in that direction, combining 3D printing and a special DIY switch based on three neodymium magnets.
The weekend will arrive much faster than you imagine, and you might want a project so it doesn't catch you idle. Personally, I think it's a good time for a small victory, something relatively easy to reproduce and finish in a day or two, depending on the availability of materials. The star of the design is undoubtedly the magnetic switch. It uses a total of three K800 magnets, a fairly popular and economical format as far as I can tell (they cost pennies on AliExpress). The key is that the switch slides correctly, since a low-quality 3D print could complicate things. "shivamvalecha_090805" shared all the necessary STL files for the project, and nothing stops us from making modifications.
As for the circuit, there's no surprise: four LED strips in series to configure them at 12V, an XL6009 module (or similar) as a step-up, a 18650 battery, a TP4056 charger, and a switch with a metal reed (with the same design we see in mice) form the guts of the lamp. This TP4056 has a USB-C port, compatible with any phone charger.
The last section of the tutorial focuses on mylar (or paper) folds to make the diffuser. Everyone at NeoTeo knows I'm useless at these things (I suffered a lot with cardboard and paper projects in school), but the final result should look something like an accordion. "shivamvalecha_090805" shared the measurements he used, about 68 millimeters per side.
The final result is an ambient lamp that will look perfect on any nightstand. It doesn't take up much space, is easy to recharge, and the DIY design always allows us to experiment. Link below!
