You have a computer with Windows 10 and WiFi support, but you only receive internet through an Ethernet cable… and your mobile devices cannot use that connection without the help of a router. However, there is an option: create a WiFi hotspot, so your gadgets see the connection as if it were an independent router. Today we explain how to do it.
Yes, a basic WiFi router costs no more than 20 euros. No, they are not particularly difficult to set up. Yes, many providers offer WiFi through a modem/router combo. No, you don't need to do much to make them work properly. But there are days when everything goes wrong, your traditional WiFi path gets interrupted, and you have one or two mobile devices that need to maintain their wireless connection.

How to create a WiFi hotspot in a couple of clicks
- Go to the Settings menu, and then to Network & Internet
- Enter Mobile hotspot
- Turn on Share my Internet connection with other devices
- Click Edit to change the network name and password (if necessary)
That's it, at least as far as the latest edition of Windows 10 is concerned. No weird CMD commands or Registry hacks. To turn off the WiFi hotspot, just flip the switch. Another option is sharing the connection via Bluetooth (assuming the computer has a compatible device), and with a maximum of eight devices, basic wireless connectivity needs should be covered.
Obviously, creating a virtual WiFi hotspot is not a definitive solution by any means. The idea is to get out of trouble, and use that breather to investigate why our WiFi stopped working. Remember: sometimes the solution is as simple as moving the router to another place. Good luck!
