Creating custom avatars for messengers and social networks is an older practice than you might think. The main idea is to stand out from the crowd, but an avatar also serves as a protection mechanism, especially when the youngest members of the household are interacting with online services. If you want to create custom avatars easily and without downloading extra software, you can visit one of these four sites.
Face.co
Face.co is probably the most “serious” option on our list. Five general categories (face, eyes, hair, clothing, and background) define the avatar’s base, with several subcategories to configure subtler details like nose shape, iris type, or beard color. You can download in PNG and SVG, share, or insert directly into Gravatar. Don’t like what you see? Press Random and try your luck.
Avataaars
Another good option for creating custom avatars. Avataaars (yes, with three a’s) offers users a total of ten categories, with the option to use a circle as a background or leave the content transparent. With so many options available, the Random button ends up becoming the star of the site. Create a random design and use it as a starting point.
PowerPuff Yourself
The original series is excellent, the reboot stinks, its merchandise is still everywhere, and of course, Cartoon Network allows us to create our own PowerPuff avatars. Its options are more limited and you have to go through a kind of quiz before reaching the download option, but in the end it’s worth it. Another advantage is that the process doesn’t end there. If you want to change something, a click on Edit Character will take you back to the editor.
South Park Avatar Creator
The name says it all. Despite its ‘simple’ design, the South Park universe has all kinds of characters, and its avatar generator doesn’t fall behind. Body, eyes, mouth, hair, clothing, special items, and backgrounds are the options at our disposal. In less than two minutes I created a disappointed fanboy of all sci-fi franchises, accompanying Cartman with an Oculus Rift stuck to his face and drooling. Unmissable.
