Adjusting services within Windows has for years been an essential part of any optimization and maintenance session. Factory settings aim to guarantee compatibility, but the truth is we don't need all services active. The Black Viper portal is a historical source of information about Windows services, what they do, and what the recommended state for each one is. Unfortunately it stopped receiving updates in April, but a script called BlackViperScript allows us to apply those suggested changes automatically.

How to optimize Windows 10 services with BlackViperScript
BlackViperScript is a PowerShell-compatible script that helps us optimize Windows 10 services by automatically applying Black Viper's recommendations. The script starts 'disabled' under versions after the April update of Windows 10, but it's possible to disable that restriction by visiting the Script Options section and clicking Skip Build Check. In the Services Options tab we define how broad the adjustments to services will be. 'Min' limits changes to a small group of services, while 'All' extends to all.

Finally, in Services List we can customize the list of services that will be affected. We click Run Script, wait a bit, and reboot the computer once BlackViperScript finishes its work.
The best way to evaluate BlackViperScript is to install Windows 10 in a virtualized environment, apply the All / Tweaked configuration and observe the operating system's behavior. If you don't notice anything strange, it's most likely safe to repeat the process on your main installation, but you might need one of these services someday, so don't let your guard down.
