Five online platforms for kids to get to know JavaScript coding.

Some of the sites are like interactive tutorials, where you can follow the course steps to learn JavaScript in a simple way. But if you want to venture into other programming languages, you can also teach children HTML, CSS, and Python.

CodeGuppy

CodeGuppy is a website for children to learn JavaScript. Thanks to its fun and creative graphics, the little ones can code the language in a didactic way. The platform has several categories (JavaScript, Drawing, Math, Text processing, Polar coordinates, Pixel art, Games, etc.). On the left of the web interface, you will see the JavaScript instructions. On the right, you will see how the coding looks. Additionally, you can practice commands on a blank page to start creating with JavaScript.

Khan Academy

Khan Academy offers multiple lessons for children. When you open the webpage, you will see the option “Computer Programming”. There, you can learn: JavaScript, Advanced JavaScript, HTML, CSS, SQL, etc. From the JavaScript section, you can incorporate coding knowledge step by step, with around 15 fun and very graphic lessons (introduction to programming, basics of drawing, debugging programs, interactive programs, text and strings, coloring, basic animation elements, etc.). The environment is entirely in Spanish.

Tynker

Tynker is a free website for children to learn JavaScript. The platform is like an interactive notebook where the little ones can code in a simple and fun way. First, you will have to create an account as Student, Parent, or Teacher. As Teacher: You will access 20 student accounts and three coding courses. As Student: You will access 20 lessons. And for Parents, the utility offers free coding activities. The environment gives you the possibility to study block coding, JavaScript, Python, HTML, CSS, Math, Data structure, Widget, Graphics, and Algorithm, both with texts and videos.

Crunchzilla

Crunchzilla is one of the simplest online tools for the little ones to code in JavaScript. Its interactive tutorials are categorized by age:

• Code Maven: teenagers
• Data Maven: related to data and statistics
• Game Maven: teenagers with experience in JavaScript

CodingBat

CodingBat is a very good option for children to learn JavaScript and Python. The page has the following categories: Basic coding, array loops, logic puzzles, string problems, etc. Each tutorial has lessons, options to write code, and a box to visualize the coding done.
