To view and delete saved Google activity, open My Activity, filter records by date or product, and delete selected entries or choose the all-time option. To stop future saving, turn off the relevant activity control separately. Browser history and records in some Google products have their own controls.
Find and delete saved activity
- Open My Activity for the Google Account you want to review.
- Search or filter the list. You can narrow activity by date or product, which helps when you want to remove a specific item or a group of records.
- Choose what to delete. Delete an individual entry or filtered group, or select the all-time option and confirm to delete the activity shown in My Activity.
- Check the result. Google says it aims to remove deleted activity from view immediately. That change in the interface is the start of its deletion process, not its completion across storage systems.
My Activity covers some saved account activity, not every record associated with Google services. Google says some products do not save activity there, and browser history or product-specific records may be stored separately.
Delete past activity or stop future saving
Turning off an activity control stops that control from saving future activity to the account. It does not delete records already saved. If you want to clear past activity as well, delete it separately in My Activity or the relevant product control.
Google says complete deletion across its storage systems generally takes around two months. Encrypted backups may retain data for up to six months, and some information may be kept longer for limited legal, security, or other purposes. Google’s account settings for Search services are being updated, so labels and paths may differ between accounts.
Check records in other controls
Web & App Activity can include searches and activity across Google services. Depending on the settings, it can also include Chrome history and activity from sites, apps, and devices that use Google services. YouTube History covers YouTube searches and watch history. Google Maps activity can include searches, places viewed, directions, and sharing actions when Web & App Activity is on.
Deleting Maps activity does not delete other Web & App Activity or visits saved in Location History. Browser history is separate, and files such as email, photos, and documents are managed in their respective products. Check each relevant product or device control if you want to review those records too.
Choose the action that matches your goal
Deleting saved account activity, stopping future saving, removing an account from a device, and requesting removal of a Search result affect different records.
| Action | What it changes | What remains separate |
| Delete activity in My Activity | Starts deletion of the selected saved account activity | Browser history and some product-specific records may need separate controls |
| Turn off an activity control | Stops that control from saving future activity to the account | Previously saved activity must be deleted separately |
| Remove a Google Account from an Android device | Removes associated information from that device | The Google Account and its data in Google services are not deleted |
| Request removal of an eligible Search result | If Google approves the request, the result can be removed from Search | The original webpage remains on its source site |
Deleting account Search history is different from requesting removal of personal information from Search results. Google’s removal process applies to eligible results; an approved removal does not erase the source webpage. The site hosting the page controls whether its content is removed.
On Android, remove an account through the device’s account settings. The menu may be called Passwords & accounts or a similar name; select the Google Account and choose Remove account. This removes associated information from that device, not the Google Account itself. Deleting the entire account is a separate action.
