Humanity: A Video Game That Shows Humanity as Postmodern Lemmings
Humanity

From Lemmings to Humanity

God simulators hold a very special place in the world of video games. Over time, they've adopted different features or left others behind, and one of the results was 1991's Lemmings, where the player basically manipulates the will of hundreds of lemmings to finish each level. Now, imagine the same concept extended to thousands of humans. That's what the game Humanity will offer once it debuts at some point this year.

The only way to solve some of the levels in the Lemmings saga is making sacrifices. In other words, the well-being of the majority outweighs that of the minority, an idea Spock would agree with. But what would happen if the lemmings became humans? Anyone would like to imagine the adoption of concepts like cooperation and teamwork… but most likely they'd kill each other to survive. The game called Humanity seems to go more or less in that direction:

What the Trailer Shows

Presented as an "action game with crowds", Humanity requires the player to manage large groups of people, obeying the parameters of each level (fall, jump, climb stairs, and more). The video is just a preview of version 0.3, but it gives us a pretty solid idea of what to expect. At first everything seems relatively calm, however, within seconds the shoving, the hits, people falling into the cliff or being crushed by giant cubes, and the rain of gunfire appear.

It's still too early to know if the material seen in the trailer will reach the final game or if it's just a simple demo, but we're very interested. Humanity is a development by the Japanese group Tha Ltd., and all their previous work falls into the experimental territory, something that from a certain point of view also extends to Humanity itself. There are no details about its release date beyond "2018", nor about the platforms that will receive it. The radar stays on.
