IBM Japan said it opened its Chitose Office on October 26, 2026, to support semiconductor-related customers including Rapidus and broaden its work with customers across Hokkaido. The office’s stated role adds a regional customer-support base to a relationship that already includes separate IBM–Rapidus technology partnerships. IBM Japan

IBM Japan’s Chitose office and its regional role

The office is at CHIYODA 3-6 BUILDING, 3-6 Chiyoda-cho, Chitose City, Hokkaido 066-0062. IBM Japan said it would support semiconductor customers including Rapidus, as well as other customers across Hokkaido. It also described broader collaboration with local customers, companies, municipalities and financial institutions, using IBM technology and expertise to support business transformation and new value creation.

The office and IBM–Rapidus partnerships have distinct roles

IBM and Rapidus have an existing joint-development agreement for 2-nm-node technology. The 2-nm label refers to a process generation, not a literal transistor dimension. Separately, on June 4, 2024, the companies announced a chiplet-packaging partnership for 2-nm-generation semiconductors. Rapidus’s announcement described engineers collaborating at IBM facilities in North America on research and development and packaging manufacturing for high-performance computer systems.
