Apple’s U.S. repair estimator lists an out-of-warranty estimate of $999 for inner-display damage and $1,499 for other damage to the iPhone Duo. Its AppleCare schedule lists a $99 service fee for inner-display damage and for other accidental damage. The amounts are tied to different coverage categories, and the uncovered figures are estimates. Apple publishes the out-of-warranty estimates and AppleCare service fees in separate U.S. schedules.
For a look at the device itself, see NeoTeo’s earlier iPhone Duo coverage. Here’s how Apple’s listed fees compare by damage category.
Apple’s U.S. iPhone Duo repair fees
| Damage or service category | Out of warranty (USD estimate) | With AppleCare (USD service fee) |
| Cover-layer damage | $49 | $19 |
| Back-glass damage | $199 | $29 |
| Battery service | $229 | $0 |
| Outer-display damage | $379 | $29 |
| Inner-display damage | $999 | $99 |
| Other damage / other accidental damage | $1,499 | $99 |
The listed service-fee difference is $900 for inner-display damage and $1,400 for the respective other-damage categories. Those figures compare repair charges only; the service fee is separate from the cost of AppleCare coverage.
Other listed services and estimate conditions
Apple lists out-of-warranty estimates of $229 for rear-camera damage and $509 for combined outer-display and back-glass damage. Its AppleCare schedule lists a $149 service fee for theft or loss; replacement depends on the plan.
AppleCare does not make every listed repair free. Battery service is listed at $0, and Apple says battery replacement carries no extra charge if capacity falls below 80%. Other covered categories have service fees, as the schedule shows.
For out-of-warranty service, Apple says inspection determines the final fee. Tax may apply, shipping may be added, and Apple Authorized Service Providers may set their own fees. The listed amounts are therefore estimates rather than guaranteed final charges.
