On October 26, 2026, MovilZona reported complaints about iOS 27.1 on the iPhone Duo, including missed touches, scrolling freezes, animation trouble, overlapping shared audio and apps that did not fit the inner display. A developer separately described a top-button touch problem in an unfolded iPhone Duo simulator. The reports are user accounts, not a measured failure rate.

NeoTeo’s earlier coverage of iPhone 18 Fold release-date rumors looked at launch timing; the reports here concern iPhone Duo software behavior.

What iPhone Duo users reported

The complaints covered both interaction and app layout. MovilZona summarized reports of touches that did not register in some areas and scrolling that froze, including in Settings. It also described a user complaint about animations and another about overlapping shared audio. Other concerns involved apps appearing stretched, cropped or misplaced on the inner display.

What the simulator account found about top-edge buttons

A developer posting in r/SwiftUI described a restricted tap area for a button near the top of a minimal app in an unfolded iPhone Duo simulator running iOS 27.1. A button’s hit area is the part of the screen that registers a tap. The developer reported that adding 10 points of top padding improved the response; 40 points made the hit area approximately comparable to a lower button. This was a simulator observation, not a report from a retail device.

The same developer reported a 0-point top safe-area inset in the iPhone Duo simulator, compared with 32 points in a 13-inch iPad simulator. Those measurements describe the two simulator configurations in that account.

How a community post described app layouts by SDK

A separate Reddit post described different inner-screen layouts across SDK generations. In that account, apps built with older SDKs might not resize; apps built with the iOS 27.0 SDK might use the inner screen’s width but retain a black bar; and apps built with the iOS 27.1 SDK might support full-bleed backgrounds and a vertical toolbar. These are community-reported behaviors, not an Apple compatibility requirement.

Software reports and screen damage

Software interaction and app-layout complaints are separate from physical display damage. In a separate report published October 26, 9to5Google said Apple had acknowledged reports of inner-display cracking to 9to5Mac. That reported acknowledgment concerned physical screen damage.
