Those of us who were fascinated and frightened by Stephen King's novel and the subsequent 1990 miniseries now get to relive the murders of Pennywise, an evil creature that takes the form of a clown and terrorizes the town of Derry, Maine.
The adaptation of Stephen King's classic reaches the big screen for the first time, after only having the miniseries starring Tim Curry, which set a very high bar since his performance was excellent and more than terrifying.
The Cast
The main cast is made up of Bill Skarsgård (son of Stellan Skarsgård) as the clown, along with Finn Wolfhard (Mike in Stranger Things) and Jaeden Lieberher (The Confirmation and Midnight Special) among the members of the Losers' Club.
The clear influence of the popular miniseries is evident in the two and a half minutes of the trailer, with similar shots such as George trying to retrieve his paper boat from the sewer, where the clown appears offering him a balloon.
Behind the Scenes
The film is directed by Argentine Andrés Muschietti, director of Mamá. Initially, Gary Fukunaga (True Detective) was in charge, but after Warner cut the budget, Gary decided to abandon the project rather than adjust to those parameters. Evidently, Warner didn't see a success, since in addition to the budget change, it moved the film to one of its subsidiaries, New Line Cinema.
Release Date
The trailer promises and we'll have to wait until September 8 to see it. In my case, jumping out of the seat is a given, like in that scene that scared us so much.
