Logan

The film opens with the words: "The world is not what it used to be. The mutants are no longer here." This sets the stage for Logan, the new Wolverine movie. The story is set in 2014, where Logan and Professor Charles Xavier must confront the loss of the X-Men at the hands of a corporation led by Nathaniel Essex. The only way to defeat Essex is with the help of a young girl named Laura Kinney, a female clone of Wolverine. But it won't be easy, as Logan's regenerative ability is fading while Xavier's Alzheimer's begins to impair his memory.

Based on the Old Man Logan comic series by Mark Millar, this third Wolverine film marks Hugh Jackman's final performance as Logan, after appearing in every X-Men installment since 2000. The villain this time is Nathaniel Essex, better known as Mister Sinister, who was referenced in the post-credits scene of X-Men: Apocalypse. In that scene, Essex's employees enter the Alkali Lake facility to retrieve a small vial of Wolverine's blood, labeled Weapon X.

This brings us to Laura Kinney, better known as X-23, a young mutant who is a female clone of Wolverine, created from his DNA, and possessing the same abilities. It's worth noting that Logan takes place in the new timeline established after the events of X-Men: Days of Future Past. The film features a cast led by Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Richard E. Grant, Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant, and Dafne Keen. Produced by Marvel Entertainment and directed by James Mangold (The Wolverine), Logan is set to be released on March 3, 2017.
