If you enjoyed Legion and are eager for more mutant series, get ready. Fox is about to premiere The Gifted, the new X-Men series, and it presents a first trailer that looks wonderful.
The Story
The Gifted presents a family drama of action and adventure that tells the story of a suburban couple whose ordinary lives are shaken by the sudden discovery that their children possess mutant powers. Forced to flee a hostile government, the family joins an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive. Though it isn't technically an X-Men series, The Gifted takes place in the same universe and connects to the mutant films, making it the second television series based on the franchise, after Legion, which premiered earlier this year.

The trailer for The Gifted shows Andy Strucker, a young man bullied at school, beginning to awaken his powers. In the absence of familiar mutants like Logan or Professor X, we meet Clarice Fong (Blink), a sarcastic girl with teleportation powers (she appeared previously in X-Men: Days of Future Past, played by Fan Bingbing), and John Proudstar (Thunderbird), who possesses superhuman strength, speed, and endurance, and leads the underground community. Also present is Lorna Dane (Polaris), a mutant who can control magnetism.
Cast and Crew
The Gifted features a cast that includes Stephen Moyer (True Blood), Amy Acker (Person of Interest), Sean Teale, Jamie Chung, Coby Bell, Emma Dumont, Blair Redford, Natalie Alyn Lind, and Percy Hynes White. Created by Matt Nix (Burn Notice) and produced by 20th Century Fox Television in association with Marvel Television, the pilot will be directed by Bryan Singer, the director of most of the X-Men movies. The Gifted will air on Fox at the end of September and beginning of October 2017.
The series will have a more intimate story than the movies have shown, exploring various themes surrounding mutants in a society that rejects them.
