Mobile Games of the Week (11/02/17)
Digimon Links

If you're still playing Digimon Heroes! you're probably aware that the servers will close at the end of the year. So to fill that void and to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Digimon franchise, Bandai Namco Entertainment brings us Digimon Links. This exclusive mobile game lets you take part in fierce 3-on-3 turn-based battles, where you can use your Digimon's special abilities along with their corresponding digivolutions. You can also build a farm and expand it with different facilities that help raise your digital monsters and boost their stats. But the best part is definitely teaming up with other players online for cooperative play. Developed by Bandai Namco Entertainment, Digimon Links is available on iOS and Android.

Heroes & Castles 2

This installment isn't exactly a sequel, but rather an expansion of Heroes & Castles. Heroes & Castles 2 is a third-person strategy RPG set in a medieval world. You play as a heroic knight, mage, or paladin defending your castle against waves of enemies. This is achieved partly through real-time action combat and partly through building an army. You can also customize and upgrade your hero, your gear, your units, and your castle. As you progress, you can summon more powerful units to fight at your side. Developed by Foursaken Media, Heroes & Castles 2 is available on iOS and Android.

Sword of Xolan

Retro 2D side-scrolling adventure games are a dime a dozen on mobile, making it hard to know which ones are worth it. Sword of Xolan definitely falls into that category. It comes with the standard save-the-world-from-monsters plot, but it's very cheekily self-aware about it. It also has very solid gameplay that adapts well to the medium. The adventure isn't as hard as some of the games it's inspired by, but there's enough challenge to keep you hooked on this interesting action-platformer. Developed by Alper Sarıkaya, Sword of Xolan is available on iOS and Android.

Til Morning’s Light

Til Morning’s Light: Young Erica Page is the victim of a cruel prank. She's locked inside a haunted mansion with a spirit roaming around. Help her explore the huge, eerie mansion, uncovering its darkest secrets and hopefully a way out. In Til Morning’s Light, there are clues to decipher, tools to collect, and puzzles to solve. If all else fails, Erica can take down the supernatural with an arsenal of sticks, knives, and swords. But hurry, because she has to escape before dawn or she'll become the mansion's next ghost. Developed by WayForward Technologies, Til Morning’s Light is available on iOS and Android (via Amazon Appstore).

Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon

Games Workshop wisely chose its first real attempt at a version of the Warhammer tabletop strategy game for iOS. And Slitherine has what it takes: it's the developer behind acclaimed world war strategy games like Frontline, Battle Academy, and Panzer Corps, among others. Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon is an RTS experience in the best Warhammer style: rich, deep, and beautifully designed. Command the Imperial Forces of the Armageddon Steel Legion and the Space Marines against the Ork invasion across thirty scenarios on the planet's hostile terrain and its gigantic Hive Cities. Developed by Flashback Games along with Slitherine, Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon is available exclusively on iOS.
