Breath of Light
Breath of Light: From the Australian studio Many Monkeys comes this peaceful puzzle experience, based on the notion of a zen garden. In Breath of Light you manipulate currents of light, channeling them to lotus flowers to give them life. This involves using stones to redirect the flow, so it can reach all flowers in a given level. There are no scores or time limits: the game is meant to provide (and, indeed, provides) small doses of calm in a busy life (and believe me, it works). Developed by Many Monkeys, Breath of Light is available on iOS and Android.
Darkest Dungeon
Darkest Dungeon: Recruit, train, and lead a team of heroes through strange forests, forgotten dens, and ruined crypts, among other chilling places. Darkest Dungeon is a challenging gothic roguelike turn-based RPG about the psychological tensions of adventure. You'll fight not only unimaginable enemies, but stress, hunger, disease, and the ever-invasive darkness. Prepare to discover mysteries, and face your heroes against a series of formidable monsters with an innovative turn-based strategic combat system. Although titled "Tablet Edition", this iPad version is packed with all the features found on other platforms. Better yet, the touch interface fits the game perfectly, and if you have the PC version, you can export the save file from your computer and then import it into the iPad version to continue your game. Developed by Red Hook Studios along with Blitworks, Darkest Dungeon is available exclusively on iOS.
Ryan North’s To Be or Not To Be
Tin Man Games is known for its "gamebooks" of the Fighting Fantasy series (House of Hell and Caverns of the Snow Witch), which mix text, board game, and miniatures in an exceptional way. Ryan North’s To Be or Not To Be is one of the studio's latest games and is a bit far from its nostalgic sword-and-sorcery habit. The result is a totally hilarious adventure that puts you in the shoes of Hamlet, Ophelia, and the recently deceased King Hamlet (investigating his own murder as a ghost, of course). You can follow the plot of Hamlet or create a completely new adventure with the evil King Claudius. Developed by Tin Man Games, Ryan North’s To Be or Not To Be is available on iOS and Android.
Stranger Things: The Game
Based on the first season of Stranger Things, in this game you start by controlling Sheriff Hopper as he explores Hawkins Laboratory in search of the missing children. Once the children are found, they become playable characters with special abilities that will help you access new areas. Stranger Things: The Game is an adventure with a retro style inspired by The Legend of Zelda, where you'll have to make your way by facing guards and wild animals that roam the levels, while solving puzzles using the different character abilities. Developed by Netflix along with BonusXP, Stranger Things: The Game is available on iOS and Android.
Super Glyph Quest
Alexander Trowers and Leanne Bayley have been working hard on the sequel to Glyph Quest. Super Glyph Quest is bigger and better than its predecessor, with an improved quest system, customizable characters, an overarching story, and sub-stories to follow. Much more than a simple match-3 puzzle game, this sequel employs tactical and role-playing elements with new abilities and weapons that will help you face the dragons once again. Developed by Alexander Trowers and Leanne Bayley, Super Glyph Quest is available on iOS and Android.
