Only one week remains until Blizzard Entertainment releases its new and highly anticipated online FPS. And to ease the wait, there’s no better way than to get to know the story of its characters with Overwatch Dragons, the animated short of Overwatch.
Overwatch Dragons is the new animated short of Overwatch that explores the rivalry between two characters. The protagonists are Hanzo, a deadly archer and unmatched assassin, and Genji, a cybernetic ninja and lethal warrior who has accepted his cybernetic body. In the video description that Blizzard offers us, it details that “Dragons” explores the story of the conflict between the descendants of the Shimada clan: Hanzo and Genji. In this episode, we see Hanzo’s return to his family home in Hanamura to seek redemption. Of course, instead he will have to face the ghosts of his past…
The fight between Hanzo and Genji doesn’t take long to arrive, and we see how both warriors showcase their respective weapons in a mortal combat. Hanzo shows off a storm bow firing sonic and scatter arrows while Genji defends himself by throwing shuriken and deflecting the arrows with his modern katana. The confrontation reaches its climax when both characters manage to invoke a titanic dragon spirit, the most powerful technique of both characters.
“Dragons” is the third animated short, after “Recall” and “Alive”, which along with a series of comics (and an upcoming graphic novel) expand the universe of the different characters that star in the game. For those who don’t know, Overwatch is a legendary squad of soldiers, scientists, adventurers, and prodigies, capable of manipulating time, defying the laws of physics and unleashing an amazing array of powers in a frenetic team-based FPS. Currently the game is in beta and many players have already been testing the game with very positive reviews. Overwatch is being developed by Blizzard Entertainment and will be available on Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 24, 2016.
