A proposed change to Qualcomm’s MSM DRM Linux driver would add static HDR signalling for DisplayPort outputs and embedded DisplayPort (eDP) panels. It targets HDR10 and BT.2020 RGB signalling.

What the Qualcomm MSM DRM patches propose

The patch series focuses on static HDR for two display paths: external DisplayPort outputs and eDP panels built into a device. Its signalling targets are HDR10 and BT.2020 RGB.

Dynamic HDR and tone mapping are not included

The proposal does not include dynamic HDR or tone mapping. Its scope is static HDR signalling.

Reported test system and patch status

The patches were reportedly tested on a Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x with a Snapdragon X1 Elite processor. The v2 series was under review on October 9, 2026, and had not been merged into mainline Linux as of October 10, 2026.
