If Outlast gave you the creeps and you're looking for a new horror experience, this might be your game. In Roots of Insanity, you assume the role of Dr. Riley McClein, who must deal with his epileptic attacks and survive strange and terrifying phenomena at August Valentine Hospital.
Story
In Roots of Insanity, you witness an ordinary day for Dr. Riley McClein at August Valentine Hospital. Dr. Riley suffers from epilepsy and must regularly take his medicine to prevent possible attacks caused by the disease. In the opening scene, the Doctor is at his desk, sitting in a chair. Startled by a woman screaming outside, Riley has a minor attack because he can't find his pills. After that, he leaves his room to find the source of the scream and get some medication, but he finds himself in the middle of unexpected chaos.
Gameplay
In this situation, Riley needs to find his pills as soon as possible and help the people in the hospital, of course; all while surviving strange and terrifying phenomena. Roots of Insanity is a first and third person horror game designed in Unreal Engine where you have to survive a harrowing adventure as Riley fights to combat attacks, both epileptic and physical. In the spirit of Outlast, the protagonist has a night vision camera but can also defend himself from monsters using knives, firearms, and even kicking.
Explore the Hospital
Throughout the adventure, Riley will have to traverse the dark corridors and rooms of the gloomy hospital, where he will be stalked by monsters roaming the area. If you liked the chilling moments you experienced in the hospital of the classic Silent Hill or the asylum of Outlast, this game could be the new experience you need to play.
