On October 15, 2026, Politico reported that the U.S. Senate was expected to make Anthropic’s Claude available to staff for work, citing two people with knowledge of the matter who were granted anonymity.
The AI tools Senate staff already had
In its account of testimony by Senate Sergeant at Arms Jennifer Hemingway, Politico said staff had access to Microsoft Copilot, OpenAI ChatGPT, and Google Gemini. Politico also reported that both chambers had internal guidance for official staff use of AI and that Hemingway’s office was leading a working group on the legislative branch’s AI needs and uses.
The possible reach of the plan
A Bloomberg Government search-result excerpt separately described preparations for a Claude rollout that could reach thousands of Senate aides.
