Sleepy Hollow: The Emmy-Winning Virtual Horror Experience
Sleepy Hollow

Sleepy Hollow is a television series that adapts a modern version of Washington Irving’s famous tale, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. To keep the series going (its third season is about to premiere), Fox worked with Secret Location to create Sleepy Hollow Virtual Reality Experience, a virtual horror experience that has won an Emmy in the categories of Interactive Media, User Experience and Visual Design. The experience debuted at the last San Diego Comic-Con, where thousands of users had the opportunity to put on the Oculus Rift goggles and be transported to the world of Sleepy Hollow, feeling what it’s like to be decapitated by the Headless Horseman himself.

As you can see in the video, viewers are transported to the city cemetery to have their own harrowing experience against the Headless Horseman in Sleepy Hollow. Without a doubt, this is an ideal virtual horror experience for fans of the series, as it features the actor and protagonist, Tom Mison, in his role as Ichabod Crane, along with several nods to episodes from the two seasons, offering an authentic and immersive way to explore the universe of Sleepy Hollow.

But Sleepy Hollow was not the only winner of an award, as another Emmy was given to the team behind the AMEX Unstaged: Taylor Swift Experience, an application that offers the possibility of enjoying the behind-the-scenes of the music video for Black Space by the singer in 360 degrees. If you are a lucky owner of a Rift DK2, you can find Sleepy Hollow Virtual Reality Experience on Oculus Share. Try it and tell us what it feels like to be decapitated by the Headless Horseman… if you manage to survive, of course.
