A New Animated Web Series

Star Wars Forces of Destiny is a new initiative that celebrates the inspiring stories of iconic heroines of the Star Wars universe. Set across various eras of the franchise, including films and series, Forces of Destiny is a collection of two-to-three-minute shorts that focus on the female characters who appeared in previous installments of Star Wars. Each episode centers on a particular character: Rey, Leia Organa, Ahsoka Tano, Padmé Amidala, and even Jyn Erso (from the spin-off Rogue One) and Sabine Wren (from the series Star Wars Rebels) are the protagonists of this web series, which explores how each character's decisions affect their destiny.

Premiere and Animation Milestone

Star Wars Forces of Destiny premiered on July 3, 2017, starting the daily release of a set of eight episodes (which subsequently began airing on Disney Channel). Forces of Destiny is the first 2D animated series produced by Lucasfilm since the 2003 series Star Wars: Clone Wars, and the first 2D project of Lucasfilm Animation, which was formed after the development of Clone Wars. Thanks to the success of this first season, a second set of eight episodes is expected to be released and broadcast at the end of 2017.
