Lucasfilm and visionary director J.J. Abrams are joining forces to transport audiences once again to a galaxy far, far away with the return of Star Wars. And to get into the mood, what better than to enjoy the second trailer of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Star Wars Celebration
Star Wars Celebration is a convention to celebrate the release of a new Star Wars film. It began in 1999, when Lucasfilm held the Star Wars Celebration in Denver, Colorado, to celebrate the release of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Subsequent conventions welcomed Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, as well as the celebration of the thirtieth anniversary of the original three films. Yesterday, the Star Wars Celebration began in Anaheim, California, and its first day culminated with the second trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
If you liked the first trailer of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, then this second trailer will blow you away. Luke Skywalker says, "The force is strong in my family", thirty years after the events of Return of the Jedi, where we can still see traces of the Empire's defeat with a Star Destroyer anchored in the mountains of the planet Jakku. The following scenes show us the burned helmet of Darth Vader, the introduction of new characters Finn, Rey, and Poe Dameron, the rolling droid known as BB-8, and of course, more Rebel X-Wing ships and TIE fighters in space battles.
The Millennium Falcon also takes flight, but the best part comes at the end with two old friends, Chewbacca and Han Solo. The main cast of this new episode is composed of John Boyega (Finn), Daisy Ridley (Rey), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Adam Driver, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow. Alongside the new cast, the original stars of the saga will join: Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker. Produced by Walt Disney Pictures, Lucasfilm, and Bad Robot Productions, the film will be directed by J.J. Abrams (Star Trek). Star Wars: The Force Awakens is scheduled for release on December 18, 2015, in theaters.
