Do you like Stargate? Of course you like Stargate. Even if the movie hasn't aged all that well, its essence fueled an entire franchise with series, novels, more movies, and even video games. My 14-year-old self was left speechless when I first saw Anubis and Horus on the big screen... and clearly I wasn't the only one impressed. The folks at 3Demon decided to recreate the Horus and Anubis helmets in a large-scale project, with 300 hours of work just for the 3D printing phase. The result... is fabulous.
Slowly, 3D printing continues its revolution. From small ornaments and spare parts to complete repairs, cosplay, and special effects, everything seems within its reach. If you want to modify or adapt something, there's likely already a free model on the web, but what can professionals do with 3D printing? How about building the Stargate Horus and Anubis helmets, with lights and movement?

What you just saw is a summary of the fantastic project by 3Demon, a company dedicated to selling models inspired by franchises like Marvel, DC, Pokémon, Star Wars, Overwatch, and even Harry Potter. At first glance, anyone might think the helmets are decorations, but 3Demon presents them as fully wearable, meaning there are no issues wearing them to a convention (heat and sweat are another story).
The project wasn't spontaneous but came about as a special commission. Fortunately, the client gave 3Demon the green light to offer all necessary files online, and now they are available on their official page for $190.
Needless to say, 3D printing alone isn't enough. Painting, correction, electronics, programming... the work required for a project of this caliber is staggering. 3D printing consumed 300 hours, to which we must add another 100 hours of post-processing, and 30 hours of 3D modeling.
