On September 27, 2026, SteamOS ARM for Handhelds published v1.2.1, a hotfix the community project says addresses games flickering below 1080p. The same day, its v1.2 release listed initial support for AYANEO Pocket S2 and AYANEO Pocket S2 Pro, along with new frame-generation and installation features.

The v1.2.1 flicker fix

The project describes v1.2.1 as a fix for a display problem that could make a game’s picture jump between full screen and the upper-left corner when its resolution was lowered below 1080p. That is the specific issue the hotfix addresses.

AYANEO models listed in v1.2

Version 1.2 lists initial support for the AYANEO Pocket S2 and Pocket S2 Pro. For the Pro, the project instructs users to select AYANEO Pocket S2 as the device model in the ABL menu. The developer said they did not own either model and asked users to test the build.

Frame generation and installation features

The release includes LSFG 2.0 frame generation: an ARM64 build for ARM64 games and an x86 plugin path for games running through FEX. The project says users need to own Lossless Scaling on Steam to use it.

The Easy UFS Installer partitions internal storage between SteamOS and Android, backs up the partition table to an SD card, and leaves Android installed. Users choose the boot system in ABL. The project’s installation directions specify a microSD card of at least 32 GB and ROCKNIX ABL 1.1.8 or newer.

Version 1.2 also includes a SteamOS Update app intended to install later versions in place while retaining games, saves, accounts, and Wi-Fi settings. The project says an interrupted update rolls back on the next boot.
