If you're already bored with Pokémon GO, don't despair: next month a new Mario game arrives for your iPhone and iPad. And to ease the wait, Nintendo has prepared a video showing the Super Mario Run gameplay.

Super Mario Run Gameplay: Three Modes and Release Info

A few months ago, Shigeru Miyamoto attended an Apple event to present Super Mario Run, the first Mario game for smartphones. And to get you in the mood, Nintendo has recently released a video detailing the basics and the three main modes of the game.

What Kind of Game Is Super Mario Run?

Super Mario Run is an endless runner platformer where the plumber automatically advances from left to right. Your only control is tapping the touchscreen to make the character jump. The longer you hold your finger on the screen, the higher and longer the jump. You can even jump between walls to reach elevated areas.

As in other games in the series, you must dodge obstacles across the stages: jump between platforms to avoid falling into pits, land on enemies, and grab as many coins as possible. The mushroom, of course, makes Mario grow.

The Three Game Modes

Super Mario Run offers three main modes. The first is World Tour, where you travel through six worlds made up of twenty-four levels to rescue Princess Peach from the clutches of Bowser.

The second mode is Kingdom Builder, which lets you spend collected coins to buy buildings and other elements earned by winning races, so you can construct your own kingdom.

The third mode is Toad Rally, the races where you can challenge the ghost versions of other players who have completed the levels. Beat their scores by performing more stylish acrobatics, collecting more coins, and earning the approval of more Toads.

Release Date

Super Mario Run is being developed by Nintendo and will be available on iOS starting December 15, 2016, with an Android release sometime in 2017.
