Taction Technology asked a federal judge in California for additional damages, interest and ongoing royalties from Apple, according to reports published October 19, 2026. The request follows a jury verdict of about $5.7 billion over two Taction patents and Apple’s Taptic Engine. It is a separate request, not a new award.

What Taction is seeking

Taction says the jury’s damages calculation covered Apple sales through March 2026. It seeks additional compensation for iPhone and Apple Watch sales through September 2026, covering the following six months.

Taction also proposes prejudgment interest at 7% annually, dating back to April 2021, and seeks post-judgment interest. Its request includes ongoing royalties through September 24, 2035. Taction asks the court to require quarterly reports of Apple’s U.S. sales and royalty payments within 30 days after each quarter ends.

The later models named in the request

Taction argues that the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 are not meaningfully different, for royalty purposes, from products the jury found to infringe. The October 19 reports describe this as Taction’s argument, not a separate jury finding about those models.

Apple’s challenge

Apple denies infringement and was seeking to overturn the verdict or obtain a new trial. The October 19 reports said the judge had not yet entered a final judgment.
