From Seregost to Gorgoroth, Middle-earth awaits you to fight against Sauron and the Nazgûl. To prevail, you will need to assemble a great army and seek allies in the open world of Middle-earth: Shadow of War.

Middle-earth Shadow of War

Middle-earth: Shadow of War continues the story of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, based on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, with events taking place between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Like its predecessor, the game draws strong inspiration from Peter Jackson's film adaptations. This sequel follows the adventures of the ranger Talion, who shares his body with the spirit of the elf Lord Celebrimbor, as they use one of the Rings of Power to raise an army against Sauron and the Nazgûl.

A New Trailer Showcases the Open World

The gameplay is based on the Nemesis system introduced in Shadow of Mordor, which allows Talion to gain followers from various races of Middle-earth, including Uruk-Hai and Olog-hai, and plan complex strategies to complete missions. This time Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment presents a new trailer for Middle-earth: Shadow of War, focusing on the vast and varied open world of the game. The video offers new images of known places like Cirith Ungol and Seregost (the besieged fortress that can be seen in the first trailer of the game), as well as some others never before depicted, such as Gorgoroth and the lush Isle of Nurn. It also gives brief glimpses of the game's improved nature and the new time mechanics.

The Nemesis System Expands

This is important since the Nemesis system was expanded, now affecting the open world as well as the enemies you will face. The environments and places that appear in this latest trailer are just an example of how they could look in a given game, with different factors changing the architecture and atmosphere of the world map. The actions you employ will determine the representations of fortresses and the wildlife you will find while exploring Mordor and its surroundings. Middle-earth: Shadow of War is being developed by Monolith Productions and will be available on Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One starting August 22, 2017.
