It's been 13 years since the release of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4, and while the series continued with several titles, none managed to reach the level of the early games. Now that could change, as the Hawk is back and in a few months we'll see the new Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5.
After the release of Tony Hawk's Proving Ground in 2007, the franchise has been dedicated to spin-offs and a remake of the early games that went unnoticed. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 will be the tenth installment and will debut on the current generation, promising to bring back that adrenaline and fun. To do so, Pro Skater 5 will combine classic gameplay with new mechanics and will include a new set of levels with multiple objectives and missions that can be completed solo or with friends via online co-op and competitive play.
Gameplay and Features
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 will feature a selection of levels based on real-world locations, as was the case with previous Tony Hawk titles. These levels will have multiple objectives, missions, obstacles, and ramps for players to discover, complete, and compete. Players will be able to level up their character, whether playing online or offline, create skaters and skate parks, and share them with the community (a feature last seen in American Wasteland).
Characters and Development
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 will feature many professional skaters, some known and some new, with Tony Hawk as the central character, as well as a new generation of skaters influenced by the franchise's games. Robomodo, the developer, has consulted with former Neversoft employees (the original creators of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater) to ensure the gameplay is as good as possible and not disappoint fans. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 is being developed by Robomodo along with Disruptive Games and will be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One starting September 29, 2015. The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions do not have a specific release date yet but are expected before the end of 2015.
