Anyone running a small business or trying to record their sales right away knows that specialized hardware isn't exactly affordable. Many users wonder whether it's viable to replace some of these elements with mobile devices, starting with cash registers. Fortunately, it's not hard to find virtual cash registers for Android, and today we're offering three... but you'll have to check for yourself whether they fit your needs.
Trial, error, and patience
While I have some experience programming cash registers, I admit it's not exactly entertaining due to the number of products and constant updates. Another important detail is homologation: if the local tax authority forces you to use specific equipment and software solutions, there's not much room to maneuver or improvise.
But if you're looking for something better than paper sheets or the classic Excel template, you should definitely give one of these three virtual cash registers for Android a try. We previously explored a Windows alternative called PosXP, but with these mobile apps you can concentrate all tasks on a tablet or smartphone without too many surprises or excessive requirements.
Virtual cash registers for Android
Cash Register
At first it seems very intimidating, and its fully English interface doesn't help much, but don't let that fool you. With Cash Register you can create a database with all your products, control stock, print receipts (thanks to its support for Bluetooth printers), set the currency type, and more. Its basic functions don't require a connection, and you can protect everything with a PIN number.
TabShop POS
A bit friendlier in terms of interface, but there's a lot to explore here. From food trucks to coffee shops, beauty salons, and car washes, TabShop POS adapts to all of that without difficulty. You can create advanced descriptions for each product, promote the most interesting items via WhatsApp, create customer accounts, and export data to CSV. The Pro edition costs USD 2.35.
Zobase Point of Sale
First advantage, partial translation to Spanish. Second advantage, a clean interface with tutorials and an integrated progress system. Third advantage, entering products into the database using the camera as a barcode reader. Customer records, employee management, online catalog... in short, Zobase POS is much more than a virtual cash register. Its updates are frequent, but you'll need to subscribe for the Pro edition.
