WABetaInfo reported on October 22, 2026, that WhatsApp was gradually rolling out scheduled messages to some iOS beta testers. The test is limited to selected users on TestFlight. GSMArena identified the compatible build as WhatsApp beta for iOS 26.42.10.19.
NeoTeo previously covered scheduled messages in WhatsApp’s Android beta. The reported iOS test uses a similar feature, but access is being extended gradually, and testers cannot turn it on manually.
How scheduled messages work
In the reported beta, type a message in a chat, then press and hold the send button to choose a delivery date and time. The scheduling window runs from 10 minutes to two weeks ahead. Text and links are supported, along with photos and videos. A scheduled message can include one photo or one video; multiple items need separate messages.
Pending messages appear in the chat information screen, or in group information for a group conversation. The sender can delete a message before it is sent, and the recipient is not notified of the deletion.
Group messages and offline delivery
A scheduled group message goes to people who belonged to the group when it was scheduled. Anyone who joins afterward will not receive it.
WABetaInfo and GSMArena reported that a scheduled message can be sent at its chosen time while the sender’s phone is offline. GSMArena also described the messages as end-to-end encrypted.
An iPhone option without beta access
A June 2026 tutorial by Genius Manu demonstrates using Apple Shortcuts to automate WhatsApp messages to individual chats and groups. The tutorial says the iPhone must be powered on and connected to the internet for the automation to run. That is a separate workaround, with different requirements from the beta’s reported offline delivery.
