All survival games have a repetition component. It is very difficult to make a perfect jump or cross a barrier on the first attempt, and “death” is part of the learning process. Super Meat Boy Forever taught us that in the most direct and brutal way, but if you are thinking about a more “light” variant, you will find it in the free game of the weekend: Aerial_Knight's Never Yield.
Moon Patrol, Temple Run, and the Google dinosaur. Its essence is simple: Run, dodge obstacles, survive. However, the infinite profile of those games can turn them into a frustrating, even boring experience. With a bit of context and more defined limits, the situation changes completely… and that brings us to the free game of the weekend on the Epic Games Store, Aerial_Knight's Never Yield.
Aerial_Knight's Never Yield: Parkour and Music
Aerial_Knight's Never Yield takes us to the city of Detroit and tells the story of a young man named Wally… who seems to have changed after some updates. The press kit on the official page indicates that Wally stole a family treasure with the ability to grant him special abilities, and he must obtain other items from his past to secure his future… but Wally is not the only character here: In some scenarios we control his brother, even more powerful.
Wally has to avoid all kinds of obstacles, including guards, drones, vehicles, and the very perspective of the levels, since in some cases he must run and climb up the fronts of buildings. Wally's general actions are three: Accelerate, jump (with two variants), and slide. Depending on the difficulty level, each action has an associated color. If the obstacle has red details, the solution is to jump. Yellow represents the second jump at half height, and for violet objects, you need to slide. In Normal and Hard modes, Never Yield also includes SloMo, while Insane removes all assistance and increases the number of obstacles.
The last three details to highlight in Aerial_Knight's Never Yield are the Endless mode (of course), unlockable clothing, and a very interesting soundtrack. Why did Epic choose this game? Everything seems to indicate that its sequel, We Never Yield, will arrive at the store very soon, and gifting the first game as a promotional strategy is never a bad idea.
