The Web receives thousands of wonderful videos every moment, but in recent days one of them has gone viral on social media, challenging the senses and leaving a million people speechless. It's a simple dirt path in a forest leading to a wooden bridge. A scene like many others, but with a huge difference: the path is under water.
If there is a place where nature can knock us out with amazement, it is in South America. A couple of months ago we learned about the boiling river of the Peruvian Amazon, and today it's the turn of a small path located in the "Recanto Ecológico Río Da Prata" in Jardim, a municipality in Mato Grosso do Sul. What's special about it? If I had to describe it only in words, the conclusion would be "not much", but I need you to come along.
When rainfall is abundant, the Da Prata river flows slower, thus creating a reservoir that at the same time raises the water level in the Olho D'Água river, known for its crystalline waters. That leads to a flood, and to this video:
What you just saw was filmed by Waldemilson Vera during a monitoring process on February 2. The dirt path and the bridge were completely submerged under the transparent water of the river, accidentally creating a fantastic scenario. The almost total absence of noise and the fact that the cameraman conveys the feeling of walking under water only amplify its effect. The video exploded on social media last February 15, and now has almost one million views on the reserve's official channel.
The video description explains that it was a rare event, and that the waters returned to their normal level at the end of the day, thus restoring access to the path and bridge.
