Ariane 6 is forecast to make nine to 10 launches in 2027, according to remarks by European Space Agency (ESA) Director General Josef Aschbacher reported by Actualidad Aeroespacial on October 23, 2026. The report linked the forecast to the ESA Council meeting in Paris on October 21–22.

The same report put the 2026 forecast at six launches. It said most of the planned 2027 flights would use Ariane 64.

Why booster supply matters

Ariane 64 uses four boosters per launch, compared with two for Ariane 62. The report identified booster availability as a constraint on increasing Ariane 6’s launch cadence. With most of the projected 2027 flights expected to use Ariane 64, each of those launches requires twice the booster count of an Ariane 62 flight.

What the P160C flight adds to the picture

On June 17, 2026, Ariane 6 flight VA269 used four P160C-based boosters and placed 36 Amazon Leo satellites in orbit, ESA reported. The agency says P160C-based boosters can increase Ariane 6 performance by up to 15%, equivalent to two metric tons to low Earth orbit (LEO).

When a second launch pad could be needed

A cadence of around 15 launches per year could require a second launch pad, according to Actualidad Aeroespacial. The report said a second pad was not expected before 2031 or 2032.
