Reproducing colors accurately is a fundamental requirement in many workspaces, though generally it's possible to get decent results with minimal adjustments. So why not turn color accuracy into a game? That's what Color proposes, a development by María Munuera and Mark MacKay that they prepared in 2011 as part of an online course. Both Color and the rest of their games ended up exploding in popularity, and after a long retirement, the color game is back in action.
Color: A Color Game of Pure Precision
The categories we need to go through are six: Hue, Saturation, Complementary, Analogous, Triadic, and Tetradic. Our goal is to control the pointer and find the exact color, but as we advance, we must coordinate several colors at once. Each phase has a time limit, though there are no penalties to speak of. For greater comfort and peace of mind, I recommend finding the exact color and letting the time run out. Scores range from Poor to Perfect, and at the end of the game, 'Color' will calculate an average score.
Personally, I'm convinced that the parameters on my main monitor are correct, and the 5.2 from my first game reflects more of a struggle with the interface and the clock. On my second try I moved up to a 7.3, but I'm still fighting with the controls in triadic mode. No matter, I'm sure you'll do better, but don't hesitate to calibrate your monitor if the results don't come.
