Coyotec, Entravision’s AI radio cohost, debuted as a solo weekend host on Los Angeles station José 97.5 FM in September 2025, then joined broadcaster Geraldine “GeeGee” Guzman on Al Aire y Sin Permiso. Entravision-attributed Nielsen figures reported for Los Angeles show increases in three audience measures between August and September 2026.

From solo weekend host to syndicated weekday show

Coyotec later became part of a weekday program that Entravision moved into an 8 to 10 a.m. slot. By August 2026, WIRED reported, the show had been syndicated in five additional markets across California, Nevada and Texas.

How Coyotec works alongside Guzman

Entravision’s LeaAnna Hernandez described a system that uses Claude Haiku for the live agent’s language model and response generation, and ElevenLabs for Coyotec’s voice. OpenAI and ChatGPT were used for initial scripts, while Midjourney helped storyboard the character’s image.

Guzman helped refine Coyotec’s Spanish pronunciation and conversational style, and says she remains in control. WIRED describes Coyotec as bilingual in Spanish and English, with colloquial language and a fictional background drawing on Mexicali, Baja California, and Boyle Heights in Los Angeles. The account says Coyotec responds to Guzman in real time but does not take calls or respond to listeners on air.

Contractor work and radio automation

Broadcaster and voice-over artist Becca Guzmán said she believed AI tools had displaced her contractor work on Entravision radio imaging. The company’s executive Karina Cerda said Entravision had no record of Guzmán being laid off and denied that the company had let staff go because of AI. Cerda also said Entravision’s changing use of vCreative may have reduced its need for contractor help.

The accounts differ on what happened to Guzmán’s work. In a separate r/radio discussion, a commenter who identified as a former voice-tracking worker described generative AI as an extension of earlier prerecorded radio shifts. Other commenters raised concerns about job losses or described the sound as polished and sterile.
