The Dragon Ball franchise has found, against all odds, two very solid examples of live-action adaptations. The first is The Fall of Men, which has amassed almost 20 million views, and the second is Light of Hope, which, if fans, time and money allow, will get a second episode. The pilot arrived on YouTube in February 2015 after many delays, and with 25 million views on its shoulders, it’s highly likely to become a reality.

What about Dragon Ball Super? Yes, it will have a brief pause of two weeks, returning to Japanese screens on August 21 if the numbers don’t fail me. 54 episodes so far, divided into four “mini-seasons” as they call them, involving new characters from parallel universes and time travel. The official appearance of Dragon Ball Super is being delayed in several regions for logical reasons of licensing, dubbing, and simultaneous work on DVD and Blu-ray editions. But what about the adaptations, the live-action projects and the initiatives that some fans make with pure effort, without mentioning very limited budgets? The one that has registered the most activity in recent weeks is Light of Hope, which theoretically already has the necessary funds to produce episodes 2 and 3. The Original Light of Hope
For those just getting to know Light of Hope, it is a project by Robot Underdog. The first episode sought financial support via crowdfunding, and although it did not reach the desired goal, the Machinima logo at the beginning of the pilot speaks for itself. With almost 26 million views in a year and a half, everything seems to indicate that Light of Hope will be able to tell the rest of its story, based on Un Futuro Diferente, which in turn taught us Gohan and Trunks doing everything possible to resist the fury of androids 17 and 18. As always, the second episode of Light of Hope does not have a firm release date, and those who wish to know more should follow Robot Underdog through their official channels… or simply wait for the Web to do the rest of the work announcing the debut. Light of Hope gives us another perspective on the critical situation that the last Z Warriors live through. Goku and Vegeta dead, Trunks with incomplete training, and Gohan being unable to face the androids on his own present a very dark panorama. Will it have the same ending we already know? After all, it doesn’t stop being an adaptation...
