Engauge Digitizer is a very good platform for easily extracting data points from an image. Whether the lines are straight or have complex curves. Engauge Digitizer offers you various tools to mark the points in an input image or PDF file, and then save the coordinates in a CSV file.
A data point is the smallest individual entity of the chart. In non-shape charts, data points are represented based on the chart type. For example, a line series is made up of one or more connected data points. In shape charts, data points are represented by individual sectors or segments that are added to the chart. For example, in a pie chart, each sector is a data point. To extract the data points from an image, the first thing you need to do is import the image file. You can do this from the top menu (File - Import). Once the image is loaded into the platform interface, you will need to add three points to mark the axes. For this, you will use the Axis point tool, and from that action you will start extracting the data points.
If the graph is linear or curved, you can use the Curve point tool. With this function you can track the points, and then curve them from the graph. Once all points are marked on the image, you can export them. To do this, go to the top menu, click File and select Export, and it will save the data points to a CSV file on your computer.
With these steps you can easily extract data points from a graph into a CSV file. In our tests, we used an image with many data points and Engauge Digitizer worked perfectly. The program is free and has a simple and intuitive interface. It works on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
