After a standout appearance in Captain America: Civil War, Black Panther is getting his own solo film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie stars Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa, flanked by an impressive supporting cast: Martin Freeman (Sherlock, The Hobbit), Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings, Planet of the Apes), Michael B. Jordan (Fantastic Four, Creed), and Lupita Nyongo (12 Years a Slave).
A Historic Milestone for the MCU
It’s worth noting that this is the first time the Marvel Cinematic Universe features a character with black skin. Black Panther made his debut in Civil War, where he played a crucial role in the film’s finale. In that movie, the character portrayed by Boseman suffered the death of his father, which forced him to step up and assume leadership of the nation of Wakanda.

The trailer, unveiled yesterday during the NBA Finals, offers a first look at Wakanda, an African nation far from peace. Our hero must intervene to rescue his country from the turmoil that threatens it.
