Six years have passed since the release of Red Dead Redemption. And at the moment no one expected a sequel, Rockstar Games surprises us again with the first teaser of Red Dead Redemption 2.
Everything started on Twitter when Rockstar Games' official account posted two tweets. The first featured a logo image with a background similar to the art style of Red Dead Redemption. The second showed seven cowboys walking on the horizon, as if they were the Magnificent Seven. That was enough for fans to jump for joy, thinking what everyone already expected: the announcement of Red Dead Redemption 2. But the joy also brought controversy. Before we dive into that, let's take a look at the first trailer of Red Dead Redemption 2.
The Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer looks incredible, but shows very little. It's clearly made with the game's engine, a characteristic of Rockstar Games when presenting its game trailers, like we saw a few years ago with Grand Theft Auto V. In it we see a natural landscape inhabited by animals, plus a camp in the middle of the forest. The scene then shifts to different landscapes, such as a moving locomotive, and daily life on the farm and in town. At the end of the trailer, the case of seven protagonists riding on the horizon is confirmed, as seen earlier in the image.
Simple and short, this first trailer doesn't reveal much more about the game. However, controversy arose among users when Rockstar Games' website only lists PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as available platforms, leaving out PC (and Nintendo) users. Red Dead Redemption didn't come to PC, and games like GTA IV, L.A. Noire, and GTA V arrived late on Windows. The site also promises an epic story, a vast world to explore, and the foundation for a new online multiplayer experience, which we hope to see soon in future updates. Red Dead Redemption 2 is being developed by Rockstar Games and will be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. For now, the game has no concrete release date, but it's expected to arrive by the end of 2017.
