The wait for the sequel to God of War III is almost over. Leaving Greek mythology behind, we now have an older Kratos accompanied by his son, Atreus, who must take on the Norse gods. Enjoy Kratos's return with the new God of War trailer.
Kratos and Atreus in the Norse World
Many years have passed since Kratos got his revenge against the Olympian gods. Having survived his final fight against his father Zeus, Kratos now lives with his son Atreus in the world of the Norse gods, a wild land inhabited by many monsters and fierce warriors. To teach Atreus how to survive in such a world, Kratos must master the anger that has driven him for many years and accept his new role as mentor and protector of his son. But it won't be easy, as he also has to deal with the Norse gods, who are taking precautions against him because they are aware of his role in the destruction of Olympus.
A Father-Son Adventure
This new story trailer focuses on the relationship between father and son. Atreus learns a bit more about Kratos's complicated and dark past, which Kratos has kept secret for his son's good. On the other hand, the gameplay will be very different from previous installments, as it has been rebuilt from scratch. God of War will feature elements similar to RPGs, such as archery skill points. During the adventure Kratos will be accompanied by his son, whom we will be able to control at certain moments. In fact, Atreus's company will be vital, helping you fight, explore, and solve puzzles.
Gameplay Changes and Release
Another major change that stands out is that Kratos no longer uses his double chain blades; instead, he has a magical battle axe called the Leviathan Axe, which can be imbued with elemental abilities and thrown at enemies. And finally, when playing, the camera goes from panoramic to sitting behind Kratos's back. God of War is being developed by SIE Santa Monica Studio and will be available exclusively on PlayStation 4 starting April 20, 2018.
