After announcing a new Preservation Program to protect classic games, GOG is back in the news with the presentation of its brand-new "Dreamlist". This list is the heir to the Community Wishlist that players could use to request and/or recommend the arrival of certain games to the platform, but now the voting process is much simpler thanks to an updated interface and advanced filters.
Many studios resist the idea of publishing classic games on GOG. In fact, they have sometimes requested the removal of those versions when remakes or remastered editions appear. The idea is to avoid internal competition between builds... but at the end of the day, the only one harmed is the consumer.
The folks at GOG always seek to keep in touch with intellectual property owners, however, when the conversation stalls, GOG often plays the Community Wishlist card, showing that there are many people interested in acquiring and enjoying those titles once again. Recently, GOG announced an update to that wishlist, and from now on it will be called Dreamlist:

With the previous design, the wishlist was a bit buried, but the new Dreamlist changes that completely. At the top, GOG Picks appear, titles suggested by the GOG team to come to the store and receive fan support, but below we have a search bar that lets us find specific games, and a section of very useful filters to focus on certain genres, or locate a game we don't quite remember.
Among the GOG picks, Freelancer, Resident Evil Code: Veronica X, Final Fantasy VII and No One Lives Forever stand out, but the most voted by the public are Black & White, the Ultimate Collection of Command & Conquer, and Black & White 2. To these we must add Diablo II, the first Max Payne, the first two Silent Hill and American McGee's Alice, which received tens of thousands of votes.
In short, Dreamlist will continue the mission of publishing more games on GOG, backed by players' desires and their power as consumers. One of the latest series to arrive on the platform is Dino Crisis, and we can now buy the first two games for less than nine dollars, fully optimized for modern systems.
