In an account published Oct. 2, the agent-wow project author reports that Codex using GPT-6 Astra (xhigh) completed the quests in World of Warcraft’s orc starting zone in about 40 minutes, with zero deaths. The task ran through agent-wow on a local private AzerothCore server. The agent received no game images; it used server packets and structured game data, according to the project account.

No game images, but plenty of game data

The agent reportedly used AzerothCore SQL data about quest requirements, quest-givers, turn-in characters and spawn locations. It also used navigation-mesh files: maps of walkable surfaces that help calculate routes through the game world.

So “without images” describes the agent’s visual input, not an information-free run. Server packets supplied additional game-state information, while the quest and location data helped it plan what to do and where to go.

How agent-wow sent actions to the server

The project author says agent-wow provided a module system, but no ready-made movement, combat or interaction mechanics. The agent reportedly built a module to send and subscribe to selected server packets. A Python script polled and decoded incoming packets to update a model of the game state, then sent actions to the server.

For navigation, the agent reportedly generated a C++ helper using Detour and AzerothCore’s local navigation meshes to calculate routes. The project author also says the agent passed through walls in parts of the local environment where collision information was incomplete.

The reported result was limited to a local server

The task took place on a local private AzerothCore server, not a live World of Warcraft server. The project author says the run was not sandboxed. The account describes one starting-zone task; it does not establish how the agent would perform on other games or tasks.
