One month before its release, 20th Century Fox shows us an extended five-minute trailer of super action and apocalyptic chaos in Independence Day: Resurgence.
A Look at the Story
We had already talked to you in detail about the story of Independence Day: Resurgence. This sequel takes place twenty years after the events of the first film, where the aliens invade Earth again and humanity will have to face them once more. In this extended trailer that 20th Century Fox released, you can meet Jake Morrison, a US pilot who is part of the Earth Space Defense (ESD), an alert system for Earth that serves as the main defense force using extraterrestrial technology, which was captured from the wreckage of the ships in the first battle.
Jake's parents died during the first attack, and he had to grow up in an orphanage. Later he joined the military to become one of the best combat pilots.
Unfortunately, a notable absence will be Will Smith, who led the charge against the aliens in the original movie. His character, Steven Hiller, died after the events of the previous film in an accident during a test with an experimental ship that has hybrid human-alien technology. Instead, the widow and her stepson do appear in this new installment. In fact, Dylan Dubrow-Hiller is already a grown man and has become a pilot and captain in the ESD.
Cast and Crew
The movie stars Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, and Brent Spiner, who reprise their original roles from the first film. Joining the cast are Liam Hemsworth, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe, Sela Ward, Angelababy, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and William Fichtner. Produced by Centropolis Entertainment and TSG Entertainment and directed by Roland Emmerich (The Day After Tomorrow, 2012), Independence Day: Resurgence is scheduled to hit theaters on June 24, 2016, in IMAX, 3D, and 2D.
