Two years, 25 million copies and one DLC later, Elden Ring remains one of the most played and celebrated titles. The universe of the Lands Between has definitely clicked with players, and with its enormous popularity, we come to “the question”: when can we expect an adaptation? The strongest hint comes from George R.R. Martin himself, who shared a little nugget on his official blog.
On June 21, Elden Ring received its first (and probably only) DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree. Beyond some initial complaints about its difficulty, this expansion adds to the positive balance of what is (without a doubt) one of the best games of recent years.
At the same time, we have also detected a new vitality for adaptations, fueled by the notable successes of Fallout and The Last of Us on streaming platforms. If we add worldbuilding of George R.R. Martin and all the frenzy surrounding House of the Dragon the question is inevitable: when will we see an Elden Ring series?
Will Elden Ring Get a TV Series?
Naturally, the rumors keep multiplying, but the most solid “data” (if we can call it that) comes through George R.R. Martin's official blog. In one of his latest posts, Martin congratulates Iain M. Banks, who received the Locus Award for his work on “The CULTURE: The Drawings”. Martin was part of the final selection thanks to “Voyaging”, the visual adaptation that Raya Golden made of his story “The Plague Star”.
That award ceremony took place on June 22, the same day Martin received the second trophy of the Nebula Award he won alongside Hidetaka Miyazaki in May 2023 for Elden Ring. As he wasn't present at that ceremony and there was only one physical trophy, Miyazaki took it to Japan. It is the third Nebula Award in Martin's career, and the first in 39 years. However, among the images of his awards, we find a small paragraph:
“Oh, and about all those rumors you may have heard about a movie or series based on Elden Ring... I have nothing to say. Not a word, no, not a thing, I know nothing, you never heard a peep from me, mute mute mute. What rumor?”
