The complete Rollercoaster Tycoon saga is recommended for all types of players, but the first two titles carry a very attractive style that hasn't lost its shine over the years. In fact, its community remains strong thanks to projects like OpenRCT2, and the dedication of some enthusiasts. The Reddit user Reddit “I-am-Prime” is one of them, and shared a park whose creation took ten years..

RCT2

It only took me twenty minutes with the first Rollercoaster Tycoon to realize that game was going to devour an important part of my life. The same had happened with Transport Tycoon, so it made no sense to resist. I still have a copy on Good Old Games (less than four dollars, don’t hesitate!), but many fans entered the saga with Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 (seven dollars), a revamped and much more robust edition when it comes to building rides. Its popularity gave rise to projects like OpenRCT2, which fixes several bugs and integrates HD support. And of course, the creations of its followers are a chapter on their own.

The park in numbers

Probably no better example than the park by “I-am-Prime” on Reddit. The original image has a resolution of 14,152 by 7,200 pixels, or 102 megapixels, and we recommend opening it on a device that can handle such a load. The park has a total of 255 rides and shops (the maximum allowed), of which 34 are roller coasters, and almost 8,000 visitors. The number of visitors so far is 471,497, and the Prime Park Jet ride has surpassed one million passengers (if a visitor really enjoys a ride, they will get on it several times). The strange cube on the left is an indoor roller coaster.

A masterpiece worth leaving alone

It’s hard to declare any park “finished” because there’s always the possibility of remodeling, but if we look closely at the image, the level of optimization and attention to detail makes us think that perhaps it’s best to leave it as is. An impressive work, in a game that’s about to turn fifteen years old.
