Midjourney began its journey as one of the bad boys of the AI image generation, but two things have limited it from the start: the first is that it has no freeware mode, and the second is its dependence on the Discord ecosystem, a real horror for many users. In recent hours, Midjourney resolved the second issue by releasing its Web mode, giving rise to a simpler and more intuitive experience.
Over time, Midjourney became a kind of role model for the rest of the platforms that offer image generation services. However, its use of Discord has kept many interested people at bay. Connecting to the server, choosing a bot, running special commands, closely following notifications, filtering results... personally, I don't know how its users tolerate that experience. Fortunately, those in charge of Midjourney picked up the gauntlet, and after a long testing process, they finally enabled its Web mode to the public.
We tested Midjourney in Web mode
The interface is divided into an Explore section, where we can see the best images from other users, Create and Organize, which present and organize our own results, a chat section (with four different 'rooms') to exchange ideas, Tasks with rewards and surveys, and finally Subscribe, with information about the available plans.
To adjust the image conditions, it's enough to click the settings icon that appears to the right of the generation counter. Here we can change the format, choose the model type and version, customize its results according to ranked images, alter the aesthetics (with Stylization, Weirdness and Variety values), and use another processing speed (Relax is not available in Basic mode). It is important to experiment with this, because the difference between models can be gigantic, even keeping the prompt intact.
Now, Midjourney in Web mode has been freed from Discord for its general operation, but not for confirming credentials. In fact, the only way to enter the service is with a Discord or Google account, and there are no alternative registration options. It's not the most comfortable, but the requirement to link an account hasn't stopped us before.
